Commonwealth Games 2010: Corruption

Everyone is aware by now of the incredible scale of corruption engaged by the organizing committee of India’s Commonwealth Games 2010. Millions have been siphoned off into the pockets of the organizers and their relatives. What is even more shameful is that a lot of money reserved in the budget for the development of the underprivileged in India has also been usurped by the greedy. Of course we’ve been promised by MS Gill and others that action will be taken after the Games are successfully over.
But I’m so nauseated by the scale of corruption by the Commonwealth Games organizing committee and Suresh Kalmadi, befittingly from the Congress party which is legendary for its corrupt practices, that I do not wish India host a “successful” games.
In fact, I sincerely request all the countries and athletes intending to participate in Commonwealth Games 2010 in New Delhi to withdraw citing opposition to deal with and encourage corruption. By participating, you will not only have said OK to corruption, but you would also have deprived the poor and socially backward in India of their development and progress.
By saying ‘No’ this time, you would in fact send a strong signal to organizers of all future sporting events that Sports and Games do not tolerate corruption.
Once again, please boycott India’s 2010 Commonwealth Games and tell India that you do not condone malpractices in Sports.
